July 8, 2010

Oh, what a night we endured. The 2 LOUD dog fights right outside and the party/domestic fight that lasted almost all night not far from the house was a reminder of why we came to PNG in the first place. We (as they, also) are just Gentile Dogs in need of a Saviour. O, how they need Christ to take away their sin and the guilt that is so deeply imbedded in their soul. The vises that give them a rush of pleasure is quickly gone and soon filled with overwhelming guilt, anger, and hatred.

Before Bro. Gerone came to take us to the bank, we were able to go over to a Holiday Inn to inquire about an internet connection. We got online and talked to our wives using Skype for a few minutes…it was a tearful but sweet time. The Lord has been sustaining us each and every day and hour that we are away from our families.

Bro. Gerone gave us a drive through the main part of the city of Port Moresby, even to the Parliament Building. It is uniquely built to represent their traditional meeting house (a Long House). It has beautiful artistic values, but represents a form of their paganism. We saw those that were somewhat wealthy-- to those that were in extreme poverty (Frog Town)…this is a small community that build their houses on “stilts” or like pylons (as those in the Bayous) right over the water’s edge of the PNG gulf.
