July 20, 2010

Bro. Matt Allen flew in around 8:00 this morning…unexpectedly. He and sister Salina Allen (his mother) brought in two passengers. They were husband and a wife from their area of the mountains. The wife was great with child, and in the midst of the delivery (no medical assistance in the bush) the baby died in the womb. They had walked 2 hours to the road and Bro. John Allen drove 2 hours to get to them and 2 hours back to the airstrip where Bro. Matt brought them by air (20 minutes) to the closest hospital here at Kerema.

After breakfast, Bro. Bill and I went to the market to pick up some food for Bro. Isaac (the husband) and took it up to the hospital. After a short season of prayer with him, we came back to the church. We would have stayed longer and ministered to him, but he did not know English and we did not know enough Pidgin to hold a conversation. I plan to go later today to see him again with Jerry so we can minister to him in the trade language.
We were able to go back and see Bro. Isaac. His wife needed blood, so he had given some for her. I prayed with him again and Jerry talked to hip in Pidgin for a little while. We could not stay long because it was not visiting hours at the “house sick” (hospital).

The rest of the afternoon was a mixture of several things: final packing, teaching, and running. The last thing (running) Bro. Bill and I did together. This is the last full day together before he heads toward home, and I to the mountains. It has been a great blessing having him here. Thank you all who had a part in helping him so he was able to be here laboring together with us in the Lord. It will not be the same without him, for he was a real encouragement to me and many others.
This is the last info from me until I return from the mountains…God bless you all.

Bro. Bill has all our pictures up till now, so my wife should be able to send some on to those that are interested.
